How to Verify BPJPH Halal Certification

Indonesia's BPJPH issues Halal certificates. How long they last, the October 2026 rules, and how to search a certificate by product or number.

Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency. It issues Indonesian Halal certificates. A Halal inspection body (LPH) such as LPPOM audits the product, and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issues the Halal fatwa the certificate rests on.

How to check a product or outlet

Search certificates on bpjph.halal.go.id

Fill in one or more fields: product name (Nama Produk), business (Pelaku Usaha) or certificate number (Nomor Sertifikat).

  1. Find the certificate number on the pack, or ask the maker for it.
  2. Search the number, or the product name, on bpjph.halal.go.id.
  3. Check that the result names the same business and the same product you are holding.
  4. If the recipe has changed, the old certificate does not cover the new formula until it is updated.

Legal basis and certificate term

BPJPH's head said in April 2024 that a Halal certificate stays valid for life as long as the ingredients and the Halal production process do not change. Companies must report changes.

Worth knowing

  • Indonesia's mandatory Halal phase of October 2026 extends to more product groups, including herbal medicines and supplements, cosmetics and some consumer goods.
  • Under BPJPH Regulation 3 of 2026, a non-Halal product sold in Indonesia must say so: "mengandung babi" (contains pork) when it contains pork or its derivatives, and "non halal" for other non-Halal sources.

JAKIM's 21 August 2026 list names BPJPH as Indonesia's Halal authority.
