How to check a product or outlet
Search eating establishments and food preparation areas by name. Products have their own search at halal.muis.gov.sg/halal/products.
- For a restaurant or caterer, search its name in MUIS's establishments search.
- For a product made in Singapore, search it in MUIS's product search.
- For an imported product, look for the mark of a foreign certifier that MUIS recognises; MUIS publishes the recognised bodies and their marks.
What it certifies
Legal basis and certificate term
Section 88A(5) of AMLA makes it an offence to issue a Halal certificate, or to use a specified Halal certification mark, without MUIS approval: a fine of up to S$10,000, up to 12 months in prison, or both.
Worth knowing
- MUIS does not certify food made overseas. Imported products rely on foreign certifiers that MUIS recognises; that recognition lasts three years and needs annual reporting.
Recognition in Malaysia
JAKIM's 21 August 2026 list names MUIS as Singapore's Halal authority.
