Why this ruling
Shake Shack is the New York burger chain, now in London, Manchester and other UK cities. In the UK, one restaurant has a clear Halal answer.
The Halal Shake Shack: Trafford Centre, Manchester
In March 2026 Shake Shack opened its first fully Halal-certified UK restaurant at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.[1] Its core menu, the ShackBurger, crinkle-cut fries, hot dogs and shakes, is prepared under Halal certification. It serves Halal beef and chicken, Halal-certified beef hot dogs and, for the first time in a UK Shake Shack, Halal bacon, and the kitchen runs without alcohol. Check that the certificate on the wall is current and names its certifier.
Other UK and US Shake Shacks
We found no Halal statement covering Shake Shack's other UK restaurants, including London, or its US restaurants. Without one, treat the beef and chicken there as not Halal, and ask in store if you want to be sure.
For other UK burger chains with fully Halal branches, see Five Guys. For how chains handle Halal more generally, see burgers.
Where you'll find it
- ShackBurgers, chicken sandwiches and hot dogs
- Crinkle-cut fries and frozen custard shakes
- Breakfast and bacon items in some restaurants

Scholarly view
A fully certified restaurant settles both questions: the meat is from Halal slaughter, and the kitchen has no pork or alcohol to cross-contaminate. Where a chain has one certified branch, the certificate covers that branch only; the logo on another restaurant tells you nothing about its meat.
