What we verified Source
Five Guys UK Halal page: "The following Five Guys restaurants are fully Halal-certified by the recognised Halal Certification Body (HCO). They serve Halal beef, and no pork products/bacon or alcoholic drinks are available in these stores: Birmingham Fort, London Park Royal, Manchester Arndale." Five Guys UK — Halal Information

Notes

Ask to see the current HCO certificate in store.

How to verify

  1. Open fiveguys.co.uk/halal-information and find your store in one of its three groups.
  2. Fully certified stores should show the HCO certificate.
  3. At a Halal-beef store, decide whether bacon cooked on a separate grill in the same kitchen meets your standard.
  4. If your store is in neither list, its beef is not Halal.

Quick checks

  • Find your store in Five Guys UK's three groups before you order.
  • Fully certified stores: ask to see the HCO certificate.
  • Halal-beef stores also cook pork bacon; decide if separate grills are enough for you.
  • Not on either list: the beef is not Halal.

What decides the answer

  • Fully Halal-certified UK stores (Birmingham Fort, London Park Royal, Manchester Arndale): Halal beef, no pork, no alcohol, certified by HCO

  • Halal-beef UK stores: Halal beef, but pork bacon on the menu, cooked on a separate grill; not fully certified

  • Every other store in England, Scotland and Wales: no Halal beef

  • Fries are cooked in peanut oil; shakes and toppings still sit in the same kitchen as the store's meat

  • Outside the UK: this page covers Five Guys UK's statement only; check that country's Five Guys site

Why this ruling

Five Guys sells burgers, all-beef hot dogs and fries cooked in peanut oil. In the UK it answers the Halal question itself, store by store, on a page called Halal Information.[1] The answer comes in three groups, and which one your store is in decides it.

The three groups of UK stores

Fully Halal-certified. Three stores, Birmingham Fort, London Park Royal and Manchester Arndale, are certified by the body Five Guys names as HCO. They serve Halal-certified British beef, sell no pork bacon and serve no alcohol.[1] This is the clearest answer Five Guys gives: Halal meat in a store with no pork at all.

Halal beef, bacon on a separate grill. Twenty-nine stores serve Halal beef but also sell pork bacon. Five Guys says the bacon is cooked on a separate grill with separate utensils, and that these stores are not fully certified by HCO.[1] They include London Bond Street, Brixton, Croydon Valley, Kensington High Street, Queensway, Wimbledon, Wood Green and both Westfields, and stores in Birmingham Five Ways, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester Fort, Manchester Parrs Wood, Nottingham, Sheffield and elsewhere.

No Halal beef. "The rest of our stores in England, Scotland and Wales are not Halal certified and do not serve Halal beef."[1] At those stores the burgers and hot dogs are not Halal.

What the Halal menu covers

At its Halal stores Five Guys serves the hamburger, cheeseburger, all-beef hot dog and cheese dog, the grilled cheese and veggie sandwiches, fries, milkshakes and soft drinks.[2] It says the hot dogs at those stores are made with Halal-certified beef, and that the fries are cooked in peanut oil.[1][2]

Alcohol and one inconsistency

The fully certified stores serve no alcohol. Many Halal-beef stores serve Hawkstone beer. Five Guys' own FAQ lists London Bond Street and London Queensway both among the stores with no alcohol and among those serving beer,[1] so if that matters to you, ask the store.

Is a Halal-beef store enough?

That is a question of standard, not of fact. The meat is Halal; the kitchen also handles pork, kept apart by grill and utensils. Many Muslims accept Halal meat prepared separately in a mixed kitchen; others want a fully certified store with no pork on site. If you want the second, the three HCO stores are the only Five Guys in the UK that meet it. What a certificate covers is explained in How to check a Halal certificate.

Outside the UK

Five Guys also runs sites for other countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Malaysia. This page covers only Five Guys UK's statement; check the Five Guys site for the country you are in.

Where you'll find it

  • Burgers and cheeseburgers
  • All-beef hot dogs
  • Fries cooked in peanut oil
  • Milkshakes with mix-ins

Frequently asked questions

Is Five Guys Halal in the UK?
Only at named stores. Five Guys UK says three stores are fully Halal-certified by HCO: Birmingham Fort, London Park Royal and Manchester Arndale. A second group serves Halal beef but also sells pork bacon, and the rest of its stores in England, Scotland and Wales serve no Halal beef.
Which Five Guys stores are fully Halal?
Birmingham Fort, London Park Royal and Manchester Arndale, according to Five Guys UK's Halal page (checked 5 October 2026). They serve Halal-certified British beef, no pork bacon and no alcohol, and are certified by HCO.
Which Five Guys stores serve Halal beef with bacon?
Five Guys UK lists 29 stores, including London Bond Street, Brixton, Croydon Valley, Kensington High Street, Queensway, Westfield Shepherd's Bush, Westfield Stratford, Wimbledon and Wood Green, plus stores in Birmingham, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Coventry, Dudley, Edinburgh, Enfield, Glasgow, High Wycombe, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Peterborough, Preston, Reading, Sheffield and Stoke-on-Trent. Bacon there is cooked on a separate grill with separate utensils.
Are Five Guys hot dogs Halal?
At its Halal stores, yes: Five Guys UK says the hot dogs there are made with Halal-certified beef. At stores outside its Halal lists, the beef is not Halal.
Do Five Guys Halal stores serve alcohol?
The three fully certified stores serve none. Five Guys UK says Hawkstone beer is served at many of the Halal-beef stores. Its own page lists London Bond Street and Queensway both as alcohol-free and as serving beer, so ask that store.
Are Five Guys fries Halal?
Five Guys UK says its fries are cut from fresh potatoes and cooked in peanut oil. That is a plant oil, so the fries are not a meat question. In a store that also serves bacon, ask whether anything else goes in the fryer.

Scholarly view

Five Guys UK is a three-tier case. A fully certified store (Halal beef, no pork, no alcohol, HCO certificate) is the clearest answer. A store with Halal beef but pork bacon on a separate grill gives you Halal meat in a mixed kitchen: many Muslims accept that when separation is real, others want a fully certified kitchen.

A store outside both lists serves beef that is not Halal, so the burgers and hot dogs are out.
