Is Sorbitol Halal?

It is commonly found in sugar-free candies, chewing gum, diet drinks, and baked goods. In addition to its use in foods, sorbitol is also utilized in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics as a stabilizer, thickener, and humectant. It is also used in some oral care products like toothpaste and mouthwash.
