How to verify
- Read the list for beef fat, powdered chicken, rendered chicken fat, powdered beef or gelatin.
- US beef and chicken cups list these and carry no Halal mark.
- Cups made in other countries have their own lists: look for a recognised local Halal mark.
- 'Flavour' in the name does not mean meat-free on these cups.
Quick checks

Why this ruling
Cup Noodles are Nissin's instant noodles in a cup: add boiling water and wait. The US range includes beef and chicken flavours.
What the US cups contain
The Beef cup's ingredient panel lists enriched flour, palm and rice bran oil and salt, followed by a long list of minor ingredients at under 2%: beef fat and powdered chicken among them, with egg white, lactose, soy protein and flavour enhancers.[1] The Hearty Chicken cup lists powdered chicken and rendered chicken fat.[2] So the meat names on these cups are not just flavourings: there are small amounts of real animal fat and meat powder.
Why that matters
Beef fat and chicken powder are Halal only if the animals were slaughtered Islamically, and nothing on the US cups says so; there is no Halal mark.[1] Treat them as not Halal unless Nissin confirms a Halal source. Cups made in other countries have their own recipes and labels, so read the one you have.
For a UK pot whose meat names come only from flavourings, see Pot Noodle; for a Korean pack with a Halal logo, see Shin Ramyun.

Scholarly view
Beef fat and chicken powder are only as Halal as the animals they came from. Most scholars require Halal slaughter for meat and meat-derived fat; without a Halal mark or a statement from the maker, there is nothing to show that standard was met. A noodle cup whose flavour comes only from plant ingredients avoids the question.
